LSI SAS Controller IC Powers First SAS-Based External Storage Offering from Dot Hill

Selection of LSISAS1068 SAS controller IC underscores LSI SAS technology leadership and growing market demand for SAS external storage offerings

 

MILPITAS, Calif., September 24, 2008 – LSI Corporation (NYSE: LSI) today announced that Dot Hill Systems Corp. has selected the LSISAS1068 3Gb/s SAS controller IC to power its 2530 Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) RAID storage solution. The selection underscores the broad market acceptance of LSITM SAS technology among enterprise storage OEMs at a time when market demand for SAS external storage offerings is accelerating.

The 2530 is Dot Hill’s first SAS offering for the external storage market. It features a 12-drive array housed in a 2 rackunit (2U) enclosure. The integrated eight-port LSISAS1068 controller provides 1.5 and 3Gb/s SAS and SATA data transfer rates per port to SAS or SATA-II disk drives. Supporting both SAS and SATA drive connectivity, the 1068 controller offers customers the flexibility to mix drives within a single enclosure – eliminating the need to choose between cost and performance for an optimum tiered storage solution.
